The success of IPN Center motivated the construction of a new building that is running since 2007 that accommodates now 40 tech-based enterprises with a total staff of 300 called the Business Incubator of IPN.In 1991, MVCC projected the premises that host the Institute Pedro Nunes (IPN) - Center for Innovation and Technology Transfer, located in the new campus - Pólo II. The IPN premises comprise two parallel buildings. The modular Plan has been enabling the adaptation to different usages of its interior areas, in the course of its almost 20 year’s existence.Later in 1991, the Institute Pedro Nunes (IPN) - Association for Innovation and Development in Science and Technology is founded by the University as a non-profit private organization. It promotes innovation and technology, establishing the interface between the scientific and the production sector.'In 1989/1990 MVCC designed the plan for Pólo II as a result of an Ideas Competition promoted by the University of Coimbra: a campus inside the city, featuring streets, public squares and blocks of university departments, mixed with dwelling and urban facilities. The plan sets out the key principles for the development of the area.
